Fall is here (okay, not quite, but the fall fashion is here) and the release of the Fall 15 Lindsay Phillips vendor catalog is in full swing. I had a great time brainstorming, styling, and designing this art-inspired theme, not to mention looking at all the beautiful shoes that are coming out!
The theme is inspired by the product's story – the whole company came about from a high school art project where Lindsay created a ceramic flip flop adorned with lots of charms, beads, and ornaments. The ceramic shoe was such a hit that Lindsay knew she could create the real thing. Enter hot glue, velcro, ribbon, and lots of rough drafts.
In playing with the idea of art-as-fashion and fashion-as-art, we tried to portray the creative process behind this season's collection. From painting to drawing, sewing to mood boarding, we were able to show a wide variety of creative methods. Lindsay, herself, is actually an art history major. How convenient?
The pre-shoot planning was a bit daunting as we were shooting everything in-studio. We had a "blank canvas" to work with, however, it meant a lot more work in terms of shopping for props, styling, and making sure we had enough variation so it didn't look too "white".
We were able to shoot everything in 2 days (that's right...just 2 days!) at a local studio with our favorite photographer, Clark Griffith. The catalog took another 5 weeks to finalize; there is a TON of information in there. We also finished a sale catalog and Kids Collection flyer.
Now...can you believe we have the Spring 2016 shoot next week? Oh. My. Goodness. Accepting prayers as of today!
